Cork Street
The creation of a dramatic double-height gallery marked Alison Jacques’ return to the ‘epicentre of the London art world’ at 22 Cork Street.
Through a process of unstitching and reconfiguring, an ambitious program of galleries and back-of-house facilities was woven into the existing concrete frame of a newly built, mixed-use building.
Four distinct exhibition spaces were created, reflective of the range of artists represented by the gallery, with the top lit, six-metre-high gallery providing a unique way to experience the art on show – one in which both site specific works and more traditional formats benefit from its unusual and energising sense of space and light.
