Refurbishment of Grade II listed house in Marylebone
Refurbishment of a 10,000 sqft Grade II house in Marylebone to provide a private residence. The building had previously been converted from offices but extensive structural problems had appeared which required urgent attention.
The client brief was to produce a contemporary family home that respected the atmosphere of the original building. Services were to be efficient and discrete with invisible climate control and underfloor heating. An underground link was created to join the main house with a Mews house/garage at the rear.
Classical features were retained and restored on the upper floors while the ground floor was re-organised into a large kitchen/dining room with attached playroom and roof terrace. The basement was converted into a modern space with a large gym and staff areas.
The project took 22 months including construction work of 18 months.
